Skills Interpersonal Skills: I am an asset to any work environment because of my well-developed interpersonal skills. I am engaging and friendly, and am a skilled team player. I genuinely like people, and help people feel welcomed and appreciated. I also have highly developed interviewing skills, gleaned from many years of interviewing, from ordinary people to famous people. As a psychotherapist, I developed a keen ability to interview for diagnostic purposes. My personal philosophy includes helping people to feel comfortable and good about themselves. Therapy Skills: Eight years of experience in human services and counseling have given me professional skills in psychotherapy, counseling, case management, and crisis services. Teaching Skills: In addition to my experience as an Adjunct Professor of Art History at two New England Colleges, I have done educational work related to radio, and have given numerous talks and presentations on various topics over the years. One component of my work as a counselor was doing psychoeducation and training, including career counseling. I have also taught woodworking to “troubled teens.” Writing Skills: I have written professionally for many years, including journalism, music criticism and writing for radio. Organizational Skills: I created and facilitated a Friendship Group at a small, private mental health facility. I have done a great deal of research over the years, including academic, journalistic and personal. I have also managed two households for a human service agency. Technical Skills: I worked in radio for ten years, and worked with all sorts of high-tech equipment. I am also skilled in computer work; I use Word on a daily basis, have experience with various database programs, including FileMaker. I taught myself PhotoShop, and have experience with electronic medical records (EMR). More recently, I have delved deeply into the world of social networking services (SNS), spending many hours discovering the potential of these sites for corporate, non-profit, and personal networking. Some of the SNS sites I have been working with include FaceBook, LinkedIn, My Space, Blogger, StubleUpon, Flickr, WordPress, Twitter, Digg, Squidoo, Friend Feed and Delicious. SNS sites I use regularly are FaceBook, Twitter, StubleUpon, Flickr and Blogger. I have a fully developed blog at pauljimerson.blogspot.com, which features my photography and writing. Artistic Skills: I have been a visual artist for many years, as a painter, sculptor, photographer, blogger and designer. Interviewing Skills: In addition to psychotherapeutic interviewing, I have professionally interviewed well-known artists, musicians and civic and political leaders. General Knowledge: I have a great deal of knowledge about art, art history, architecture, jazz, classical music, psychotherapy, social networking and relationship building.
